Over 3,000 Eclipse Glasses Collected for Redistribution

SHARE NOW

The numbers are in and the Cayuga Tourism Office collected over 3,000 solar eclipse glasses for redistribution.

Partnering with the Seymour Library, Reuse Reguge, and the Equal Rights Heritage Center to collect the glasses, they’ll now be sent to Astronomers Without Borders to be checked for safety, repackaged, and stored for distribution at future eclipse locations across the globe.

Despite uncooperative weather, the April 8 eclipse proved a popular event in Cayuga County with Auburn estimating 1,300 marking the occasion at Falcon Park alone with 1/3 of attendees being from out of state.
