    Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 22 inches. Northwest winds gusting as high as 35 mph Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

    IMPACTS
    Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Snowfall will likely be very heavy at times this afternoon into the evening with hourly rates potentially exceeding 2 inches per hour. The snow tapers down this evening. Temperatures will be very cold throughout this storm, hovering in the upper single digits to teens the entire time, with colder wind chills.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

Two Arrested for Graffitiing Signs in Aurelius

Two Auburn residents are facing charges after their arrests for graffitiing signs in Aurelius.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, around 4:18 Tuesday afternoon, deputies responded to Cranebrook Drive, just outside the city, where they found multiple signs defaced with spray paint. 21-year-old Joseph Trathen and 18-year-old Jessica Kowal were found in the area with cans of spray paint. Kowal also had fresh spray paint on her shirt.

Trathen was arrested for two counts of Making Graffiti and one count of Possession of Graffiti Instruments. Kowal was arrested for one count of Making Graffiti, one count of Criminal Possession of Graffiti Instruments, and one count of False Personations as she allegedly lied to deputies about her identity.

Both were given appearance tickets.
