Two children suffered injuries after the car they were riding in was involved in an accident with another vehicle on Thursday in Yates County.

Lois Garman, of Penn Yan, was driving west on Havens Corners Road in Benton when police say she failed to yield the right of way to a car traveling south on Pre-Emption Road and collided with it. The two children in Garman’s car, a 12-year-old and an 8-year-old, were taken to Geneva and Strong Memorial Hospitals for treatment of head and stomach pain. Charges against Garman are pending the outcome of the accident investigation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

The other driver, Matthew Foote, of Skaneateles, was ticketed for driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

The Benton Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
