A former Cayuga County judge has received her sentence for stealing over $6,000 dollars in court funds.

The Citizen reports June Shepardson was sentenced Thursday to five years probation after pleading guilty to a felony count of grand larceny.

After being suspended in July while the state conducted an investigation, Shepardson resigned in September. She admitted in December to taking court funds while serving as a justice for the Village and Town of Moravia.

Shepardson has agreed to pay restitution, seek treatment for a gambling addiction, and never seek public office again.
