DEC Still Accepting Comments on Proposed Mine Expansion in Watkins Glen

SHARE NOW

If you didn’t have the chance to attend this week’s virtual or in-person public hearings on a proposal that calls for the expansion of a sand and gravel mine that borders Watkins Glen State Park you can still have your voice heard.

The DEC is accepting written comments through February 24th on the proposed expansion of Padua Ridge by more than 60 acres by its owner, It’s Greener Now, Incorporated. The proposed expansion of the State Route 409 location would result in the extraction of approximately 3.5 million cubic yards of material for approximately 20 years.

Comments can be filed through email at [email protected] through Feb. 24.
