One local sheriff’s department was awarded the Innovative Program Award at the 90th Annual New York State Sheriff’s Association’s Winter Training Conference.
The Sheriff’s Association Institute presented Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard with the award in recognition of the department’s recent development and implementation of the Sheriff’s EMT and Paramedic program, which was a direct result of the county’s lack of paramedics and EMTs.
The program mandates 120 hours of training for sheriff’s deputies to become certified EMTs.
