An Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Rural Development Grant has been awarded to the Village of Hammondsport for $150,000. This grant will be used to construct a village-owned wastewater collection and treatment system to address needs in the business district.

“This investment in Hammondsport’s business district will increase opportunities for economic growth and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and businesses alike,” said Rep. Nick Langworthym who helped secure the grant. “Access to reliable wastewater infrastructure is essential for the prosperity of our communities, and this grant is a crucial step in ensuring that our region remains a vibrant and thriving community for generations to come.”

“We are grateful for the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission and Congressman Nick Langworthy in securing these much-needed infrastructure dollars for the Village of Hammondsport,” said Mayor Jean Jensen. “This financial assistance will lead to the installation of over 4,000 feet of sewer lines and a septic system for the village square and downtown area. This project is a much-needed improvement, and a big boost to support our local businesses.”

The Appalachian Regional Commission is an economic development partnership entity of the federal government and 13 state governments focusing on 423 counties across the Appalachian Region. ARC’s mission is to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia to help the Region achieve socioeconomic parity with the nation.
