SHARE NOW

A 17-year-old Southern Tier teenager is dead after being involved in a three-car crash in Tompkins County.

State Police say the accident happened just before 1 Tuesday afternoon on West Danby Road in Newfield. Peyton Shaw, of Waverly, was a passenger in a car that rear-ended another vehicle that had stopped to make a left-hand turn. The impact sent the car Shaw was in into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a Cadillac CT6. Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car she was in, 18-year-old Dale Beeman, of Spencer, was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital for serious injuries.

The two other drivers were checked over at the scene and released.
