Qualified residents of one Schuyler County village could soon be allowed to go for ride-alongs with their police department.
The Watkins Glen Village Board recently heard details of its police department’s plans to institute a Ride-Along policy where residents who meet limited criteria would join an officer for a day of work. The department feels the program would provide a chance for residents to witness first-hand the variety of functions the department and its officers serve to the village.
The Odessa File reports the proposed policy is being sent to the village’s insurance agents and lawyers for feedback and review.
