The long-time leader of one Schuyler County village has announced he will resign from his post effective next month.
Dale Walter has served as mayor of the village of Burdett since 1997. Before that, he was a village trustee for seven years. Walter cited the need to spend more time with his family as the reason for his resignation.
In a letter to village residents, Walter said his resignation would go into effect on December 1st.
