Food Bank’s Check-Out Hunger Event Underway

SHARE NOW

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is excited to announce the launch of its annual Check-Out Hunger event, in partnership with Wegmans, now through November 29th.

Check Out Hunger allows shoppers at one of five Wegmans stores throughout the Southern Tier (Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca, Johnson City) to donate right at the register when making their purchases. Throughout the campaign, Wegmans shoppers can donate $2, $3, or $5 to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier right at the register upon checkout. It really is that simple to help provide meals for our neighbors in need. With the Food Bank’s purchasing power, just one dollar can provide three meals.

This year marks 30 years of partnership between the Food Bank and Wegmans. Between 2015 and 2022, Wegmans stores have raised $1,867,983 – the equivalent of 5,603,950 meals!

As food needs continue to increase in the Southern Tier, this time of year also brings added expenses for the holidays. The Food Bank says along with its community partners across the six-county service area, which includes Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins, Chemung, Tioga, and Broome counties, are working hard to maintain consistent and ample food distribution across the Southern Tier.
