An Elmira man who admitted to violating multiple Orders of Protection is heading to state prison.
29-year-old Andy Smith pleaded guilty in Schuyler County Court to two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts of criminal contempt. According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, Smith admitted on separate occasions to being physically present on the property of the victim in violation of the order. On one occasion, Smith was found with help from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s K9 unit after he was hiding in the woods adjacent to the victim’s property.
Schuyler County Judge Matthew Hayden sentenced Smith as a second felony offender to three to six years in state prison and two years of post-supervision release.
