An Ithaca man is accused of attempting to choke a Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputy as he was being arrested on an active felony warrant.
Deputies located Jesus Fernandez in the area of 210 Cecil A. Malone Drive in Ithaca. After a brief chase, the 24-year-old Fernandez is accused of attempting to place a chokehold on one of the deputies. The deputy was able to quickly escape and placed Fernandez into custody.
Fernandez was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and a felony count of assault.
