A fatal pickup truck versus horse and buggy accident claimed the lives of two young Amish children in Jefferson County on Wednesday.
A one-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and a three-year-old passed away at a Watertown medical facility. Four other people in the buggy were all taken to the hospital for undisclosed injuries. An initial investigation determined the pickup and buggy were traveling in the same direction shortly after 2 p.m. when the truck drove into the back of the buggy.
The driver of the pickup was not hurt.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
