Helming, Senate Ag Committee Push for Milk Back in Schools

SHARE NOW

The bipartisan New York State Senate Agriculture Committee is again advocating New York’s federal delegation that public school cafeterias be granted the choice of serving whole and 2 percent milk be included in the Farm Bill.

In a letter to the delegates, the Senate Committee not only discussed the nutritional benefits of milk but also the economic boost it would mean for New York’s farmers and dairy producers. They urge the Federal Government to remove its restrictions on whole milk in public schools based on what the Committee claims is outdated information.

Giving schools the option to make whole and 2% milk available in cafeterias supports the health of students and the success of New York’s dairy farmers,”| said State Senator Pam Helming, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
