A Schuyler County man was killed in a motorcycle accident in neighboring Chemung County.
State Police say Patrick Hess was riding his 1995 Honda eastbound on Smith Road Monday morning when he struck a deer. The collision caused Hess to go off the south side of the road and into a ditch. A passerby discovered the scene a short time later and called 9-1-1.
Hess, who was 45 years old and lived in Cayuta, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chemung County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to assist State Police with the investigation.
