Police: Convicted Felon Arrested on Weapons Charges

A convicted felon with an extensive criminal history and an active warrant for a weapons possession charge out of Ithaca, is back in police custody following his involvement in a police chase in Chemung County.

32-year-old Steven Park, of Brooktondale, and a 20-year-old woman from Waverly were involved in the chase in Van Etten this week. When the chase ended, Park, who isn’t allowed to own or possess any weapons, was allegedly found to have a loaded .32 caliber revolver and a loaded M1 Carbine rifle with him. In addition to a felony weapons possession charge,  Park was charged with misdemeanor criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine and illegal pills were found in the car.

Following arraignment, Park was sent to Chemung County Jail in lieu of bail.

The driver of the car, identified as 20-year-old Sarah Brown, was found in possession of methamphetamine and was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle.
