Groundbreaking for New RTS Bus Facility

SHARE NOW

After 19-years of being parked outside, the Regional Transit Service buses will one day next year be parked inside.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Friday morning for a new $8-million dollar bus garage and office/training center in Waterloo.  The new RTS facility will be built on Thurber Drive adjacent the Seneca County Office Building.

RTS CEO Miguel Velazquez says the new facility will make it easier to provide service to Seneca County.

Site work began last month, the facility is expected to open next summer.

Regional Transit Service (RTS) is a regional transit authority established by New York State with more than 900 employees who proudly serve customers and business partners in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne and Wyoming counties. Recognized as one of the best-run transit systems in the nation, RTS provides safe, reliable and convenient public bus transportation to more than 9 million people each year.
