Police say a medical emergency led to a one-car accident on Ridge Road in the town of Williamson.
62-year-old Marcia Hopkins was traveling west when her car left the north shoulder of the road and struck a mailbox and a water meter. Her car then came back on the road and crossed over to the south lane before coming back and leaving the north shoulder again. This time, her car struck a garage, causing significant damage. The Williamson resident was taken to Rochester General Hospital for an evaluation.
Hopkins was ticketed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for moving from lane unsafely, failure to use the designated lane, and not in control of steering.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by Williamson Ambulance, Wayne County ALS, Williamson Fire Department, Williamson Water Department, and Code Enforcement.
