Auburn Man Arrested for Choking a Child

On Sunday, July 9th, 2023, Ryan M. Key, a 39-year-old resident of Auburn, NY, was arrested by the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department following an investigation into a domestic incident that took place on July 4th, 2023. Key stands accused of engaging in a physical altercation with a family member at their residence in Seneca Falls, during which he recklessly endangered the safety of an individual under the age of 17 by placing his hands around their neck and applying pressure. As a result, Key now faces charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, both of which are classified as misdemeanors. Furthermore, due to a prior conviction for a qualifying offense within the past five years, Key has been additionally charged with the felony offense of Aggravated Family Offense. After he was taken into custody he was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to wait centralized arraignment. An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the victim.
