Geneva City Council Censures Council Member Bill Pealer, Jr.

SHARE NOW

The Geneva City Council last night voted to censure council member Bill Pealer Jr.  The vote came after several Geneva residents urged the council to vote for the formal statement of disapproval. Pealer has come under fire for the last two months after he posted on social media several tweets that upset Geneva’s LGBTQ + community.

Pealer, last night said the comments were about a national news story, not about Geneva residents.

Councilor Laura Salamendra criticized Pealer for his social media comments.

The vote was 6-to-2.  Council members Ken Camera, Laura Salamendra, Jan Regan, Tom Burrall, Kyle Brimm, and Anthony Noone voted if favor of censure, Mayor Steve Valentino and Bill Pealer voted against.  The resolution approved last night did not call on Pealer to resign his council seat.
