Police have arrested a man they say assaulted a Penn Yan resident with a baseball bat and then attempted to strike them with his car.
Witnesses say 30-year-old Dakota Pielow left the scene in the area of Carpenter Lane before police arrived. The Painted Post man was located a short time later and was arrested without incident. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.
Pielow was charged with assault, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
