Country music star, American Idol alum, and former Future Farmers of America kid, Alex Miller will return to the Great New York State Fair to play on Agriculture Career Day. Alex will perform at Chevy Court at 1:00 p.m. on August 24th.
Alex’s distinctive baritone voice, songwriting skills, and love for the County music genre have helped him put his own spin on traditional Swing, Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel sounds to wow audiences. He’s currently touring in support of his album, Miller Time, featuring familiar singles including his new love song, “Girl, I Know a Guy,” the music video in which he’s starring. Other hits include, “Don’t Let the Barn Door Hit Ya,” and “I’m Over You, So Get Over Me.”
Alex grew up in Kentucky and worked on a farm before pursuing music full-time. When he’s not on the road, he still volunteers for his local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Over the years through FFA – which prepares youth for leadership and careers in science, business and the technology of agriculture – he’s racked up such accolades as winning his regional FFA talent competition and placing as a semifinalist in the National FFA talent competition. Alex also was recognized as a Star FFA Greenhand.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alex back to The Fair for the third year in a row, and this year, his performance coincides with Agriculture Career Day and Student Day, which is extra fun,” said Sean Hennessey, Interim Fair Director. “This day is really important because it provides opportunities for students to get hands-on experience and real-life insights and education about what it’s like to work in the agriculture industry. How special is it for these kids to see someone who’s gone through the same program as them experience success on the stage?”
Access to all acts and performances in the Chevrolet Music Series is included with Fair admission. Admission tickets – which will go on sale online in early July – are $6 for adults, and free for those who are 12 years old and younger, and 65 years old and older. In addition, keeping with tradition, all children and teenagers ages 18 years old and under are admitted to The Fair for free on Agriculture Career and Student Day.
