Doctor Says “Don’t Panic” Over Air Quality

SHARE NOW

“Don’t panic!” That was the message Tuesday from Dr. Shahzad Mustafa, the head of Rochester Regional Health’s Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology, in response to the Air Quality Health Advisory issued for our area because of the more than 100 active wildfires in Canada.

“Certainly changes in air quality are happening on a daily basis and today’s changes are more pronounced and more visible, you can sense and smell it, ” said Dr. Mustafa.  “But there’s no reason for panic. These changes have a modest impact on respiratory conditions for a vast majority of individuals. For those who are most sensitive, it can add more impact and that can be alleviated by minimizing exposure.”

The advisory issued by the state will continue through the day on Wednesday.
