CANTON, N.Y.—The Hobart College baseball team split a doubleheader at St. Lawrence University this afternoon. The Statesmen won the opener 4-3 in nine innings, while the Saints took Game 2 in walk-off fashion, 5-4 in seven innings.
GAME 1
- Hobart and SLU played four scoreless innings until junior catcher Ty Gallagher came up with two on and one out in the top of the fifth. He drove a 2-0 pitch over the right field wall for his team-leading third homer of the season.
- The Statesmen tacked on a needed insurance run in the seventh. Graduate student Michael Whiteherse led off with an infield single and promptly stole second. The Saints got a pop up and a strike out before Whiteherse moved to third on a balk. He scored on a miscue by the shortstop that allowed first-year Christian Petry to reach safely.
- Hobart starter sophomore Griffin Snyder scattered six hits and struck out six, but found himself in a jam with one run in, two on and one out in the seventh. First-year Max Friedlander came on in relief. While the Saints did score two more, he got out of the inning with the Statesmen still in front and pitched two more scoreless innings to collect his first save.
GAME 2
- Hobart used a three-run third to take a 3-2 lead over St. Lawrence. Gallagher tied the game with a two-run single and three batters later, first-year Isaiah Pinto’s infield single scored Gallagher.

- First-year Evan Munuz doubled to left in the top of the fourth to bring home first-year Michael Presbrey and tie the game at 4.
- Huck Haun led off the bottom of the seventh with a single for the Saints. After the next batter popped up to Gallagher attempting to bunt, John Donnellan delivered a double that brought Haun around and gave SLU the walk-off win.
