The Auburn Police Department’s officer worn body cam program is working well.
That’s according to Police Chief James Slayton who spoke at Thursday’s City Council meeting. He told Council “I notice it’s helped us on the road when we have use of force incidents. The deputy chief and I are now able to go back and not only just read an officer’s report and get a view of what happened. We can actually see it live”
Deputy Chief Roger Anthony added that, since implementation of the cameras, complaints against officers have gone down.
APD acquired its cameras and began training officers on them last Fall.
Slayton and Anthony’s full address to City Council can be viewed on the city’s website.
