State Police say the Ithaca woman who they considered to be a missing vulnerable adult is dead after the man who allegedly abducted her was involved in a shootout with Virginia State Police.
Tatiana David was last seen Wednesday morning being forced into an SUV by 34-year-old Michael Davis, of Richmond, Virginia. State Police issued an endangered adult alert which resulted in the SUV Davis was driving being spotted on Interstate 495 at around 9:30 Wednesday night. As police attempted to pull Davis over, he took off and led Virginia authorities on a pursuit, which ended when he crashed in a wooded area. Davis then began firing at police, who returned fire. Davis was wounded and is in critical condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
34-year-old Tatiana David was found dead outside of the car at the crash site with an apparent gunshot wound. Her cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Davis and David were in a previous relationship and have a four-year-old child together.
