The Seneca County Board of Supervisors Tuesday evening will consider the town of Covert’s request for $10,000 in tourism promotion funds from the Seneca County budget.
The town is asking for the money as a portion of its $30,000 contribution to a three-municipality agreement to operate and maintain Camp Barton on the west shore of Cayuga Lake. The Towns of Covert and Ulysses and the village of Trumansburg are working to manage the camp.
The camp is being sold by Boy Scouts of America to help pay its legal settlement of sexual abuse claims against Scout leaders.
Camp Barton is a 138-acre parcel just north of Taughannock Falls State Park on Route 89 in Covert.
