State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred Friday in the town of Farmington.
Troopers say, just before 2:00p, they responded to the report of a car crashed into a tree, fully engulfed in flames on Shortsville Road, west of County Road 28, with the driver still inside.
Police tried to extinguish the flames but were unable to do so. Members of the Shortsville Fire Department then arrived and were able to put out the fire.
The driver was pronounced dead and the body was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identification. The cause of the crash and the victim’s identity are currently under investigation.
