Ithaca Police say they arrested the same person twice over an almost four-hour span early Wednesday morning for allegedly attempting to break into homes.
The suspect, who was not identified by police, was initially arrested at around 1 o’clock after attempting to break into a residence in the 600 block of West Buffalo Street. The individual was charged with trespassing and released on an appearance ticket.
The same suspect was arrested at around 5 o’clock after allegedly trying to break into residences that spanned from the 300 block of North Plain Street to the 200 block of Stewart Avenue. Again, the male suspect was charged with trespassing and released on an appearance ticket.
Police say in all of these incidents, no force was used to make entry into the homes. They would like to remind residents to lock their windows and doors to their homes, businesses, and vehicles.
The reason the suspect’s identity is not being released at this time is due to further investigations pending.
Anyone believing their residence was entered unlawfully throughout the night is encouraged to check for any missing items and to contact the Ithaca Police Department via the following means:
