If the city of Geneva’s Police Chief sells his house before he retires in June, he will be able to move outside of the city for the remainder of his term.
City Council voted 6-3 this week to waive the residency requirement that would allow Mike Passalacqua to move to Waterloo after he sells his house. City Council approved a resolution in 2009 that requires that police and fire chiefs live in the city in the event of an emergency that requires a rapid response.
The council will continue the discussion of the residency requirement at a special meeting set for February 15th.
