    IMPACTS
    The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 to 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    Actual air temperature will be below zero each night through Sunday morning. The prolonged cold could cause pipes to freeze or burst. Daytime high temperatures will climb above zero with afternoon highs of 5 to 15 degrees above zero.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

2022 Record Year for Attendance at State Parks; Watkins Glen, Keuka Lake Parks See Visitor Totals Drop

2022 was a record year for attendance at New York State Parks.  Annual attendance at state parks, historic sites, campgrounds, and trails operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation saw a record 79.5-MILLION visits last year, an increase of more than one million compared to 2021.

For 2022, Watkins Glen State Park’s attendance was 995,377 down from 1,003,280 in 2021, and Keuka Lake State Park also saw its attendance drop from 133,933 in 2021 to 122,650. Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca recorded an attendance of 362,301 last year, up from 358,536 in 2021.

New York State Park attendance has been steadily climbing for more than a decade, rising nearly 43 percent since 2008. Among the most-visited State Parks in 2022 were Niagara Falls State Park (9.4 million visits), Jones Beach State Park (8.5 million visits), Robert Moses State Park (3.8 million visits), Saratoga Spa (3.5 million visits), Sunken Meadow State Park (3.1 million visits) Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park (3 million visits) and Bear Mountain State Park (2.4 million visits).
