Save Owasco Now: NYS Needs To Step Up to Save Our Lake

SHARE NOW

Residents concerned with the health of Owasco Lake were at Cayuga-Onondaga Boces Tuesday night to learn how to protect their lake.

Grassroots group Save Owasco Now held a meeting to let the public know about the lake’s declining health and what they can do to help save it. At the meeting, Walter Hang of Toxics Targeting said the state needs to address the root of the problem.

Auburn City Councilor Terry Cuddy added the governor needs to act.

Save Owasco Now is urging the public to tell Governor Hochul and the state legislature to adopt a Total Maximum Daily Load for the lake, something the City of Auburn has requested since 2016.

The group has created a letter template that can be signed and mailed to Governor Hochul urging her to action. The template can be viewed and printed here.
