An August trial date has been set for a former Seneca County man accused of killing his first wife in California in 1991.
The Union Democrat reports Karl Karlsen will go to trial beginning August 28th in Calaveras County Superior Court.
The original trial date of Fenruary 13th was vacated last week.
It’s the 4th trial date to be set in the case.
Karlsen’s attorney had recommmended a June 5th date.
The 56-year-old Karlsen is accused of killing his wife, Christina, by starting a fire at their home to collect a $200,000 life insurance policy in her name.
Karlsen was sentenced to 28 years to life in Seneca County after he pleaded guilty to murder for the death of his son Levi, and committing insurance fraud to collect on an insurance policy he had submitted just days before Levi’s death.
