There are two new faces and two holdovers in leadership positions following Thursday’s Cayuga County Legislature reorganization meeting.
Republican Tucker Whitman was unanimously elected to serve as the new Chair of the legislature, succeeding Pat Mahunik after he decided to hold the position for just one year. Fellow Republican Tim Lattimore was reappointed as vice-chair, while Mike Didio returns as majority leader and Democrat Keith Batman replaces Elane Daly as the Minority Leader.
According to the Citizen, Whitman said while his fellow legislators may have different goals, in the end everyone “kind of has the same goals.”
Whitman served as chair of the Legislature’s Public Works Committee in 2018, and said last night his priorities include continuing a new direction for the Highway Department, protecting water quality and developing a long-term capital investment plan.
