Republican State Senator Jim Seward was sworn in for his 17th senate term during a New Year’s Day ceremony at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta.
During his speech, Seward said the while political landscape in the senate has changed his first priority remains to represent the people of the district that includes portions of southern Cayuga County and to fight for their core values and way of life.
“I stand ready to address the many challenges we face. Too many people are leaving the state, and that is a trend we need to reverse. I will be working to create new opportunities, making sure businesses can afford to grow, and families and individuals can succeed”
Senator Seward has been named the ranking member of the powerful Senate Finance Committee.
