A longtime Scouter and Seneca Waterways Council employee has gone home. David Cheney entered into rest on Wednesday, December 26th. Dave lived the Scout Oath & Law daily and forever impacted many lives as a member of Marion Ambulance and Fire Department, Den Leader for Marion Cub Scouts Pack, and former Scout Master of Troop 227, Lyons N.Y. .For information about calling hours and sending condolences click here.
BSA Lifeguard Training

Looking for a way to offer more program for your Scout unit? Have you ever thought about that summer job? Then have you considered taking the BSA Lifeguard training course? This physically demanding course will challenge both your abilities and your schedule! There will a training course starting Jan 28th , 2019 at the Brockport High School.
Youth Protection Training is required for all adult leaders for Packs, Troops, Crews, Ships, and Explorer Posts.
Thurs., January 3, 10, 31 from 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Sat., January 5, 12, 19, 26 from 10:00am – 12:30pm
You may take the training online at my.scouting.org or in-person at the Council Service Center on any of the dates listed above. These in-person training sessions at the council office offer participants the opportunity to ask questions.
AT&T Teen Tech Challenge Celebrates Youth STEM Success
In mid-December, AT&T, the Finger Lakes STEM Hub and the Greater Rochester After-School Alliance, in partnership with several other organizations hosted the AT&T Teen Tech Challenge, a five-month STEM education program for area youth across the region. The teen teams showcased their interests and knowledge in STEM and STEM careers by participating in various programming based on their agency’s own curricula. The challenges included creating a wearable piece of jewelry, bumpers for remote control races and a playable board game, all of which must use working LED lights.
Assistant Camp Ranger:Seneca Waterways Council is hiring for two part-time assistant rangers to join our ranger team at J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation. If you are interested in this position please complete the application process through Indeed. If you know of someone that might be interested, please send them the link. We anticipate that interviews will take place in early November.
Program Aidesfor the City Scouting Outreach program – part time position. The Council is seeking high energy, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individuals to help deliver the in-school Scouting program in the City of Rochester. Candidates should be available mostly between 2:30pm – 5:30pm. Morning and Saturday hours are available as well. Contract position through July 5, 2019.
