Read More! 2019 Reading Challenge
We are beginning our fourth year of our reading challenge! This year we’re inviting you to challenge yourself to read 24 books throughout 2019. While we’re not telling you what books to read, you will have to read different types of books. Categories this year include: a ghost story, a book with a color in the title, a book by a favorite author and more! We are also including two bonus categories this year. So if you need the extra challenge, you can read a total of 26 books. Don’t forget to share your progress with us on social media #ReadMore2019.

Shirwan Mirza, MD, FACP, FACE, is an internist and endocrinologist ( a specialist in hormones, and metabolism) who looks at the human body as one biological machine.

Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia

Join the Alzheimer’s Association at Seymour Library for Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia.Learn the impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, stages and risk factors, current research and treatments available to address some of the symptoms, and the resources available through the Alzheimer’s Association. Registration is required, so please call the library at 252-2571 to register.
Other upcoming programs with the Alzheimer’s Association will be Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors on Monday, February 11 at 3 pm and Effective Communications Strategies on Monday, March 4 at 5 pm.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project: Talk with a Lawyer

The Volunteer Lawyers Project will hold clinic hours at the library on Thursday, January 3 from noon to 1:30 pm. Clinics are open times to chat with a lawyer about any civil legal question or concern. Civil law matters include topics such as family law, support, small claims, benefits, consumer, tenant rights, etc. Bring any documents that you need reviewed or that are relevant to your question. Receive assistance with job applications, resumes, digital downloads (like OverDrive, Hoopla, and Kanopy), and computer basics training. Library staff will be available for assistance by appointment, so please sign up at the library’s main desk or by calling 252-2571.
