Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler returned to work on Monday after completing the 11-week long FBI National Academy training course for law enforcement executives from around the world.
He said on Thursday’s Finger Lakes Morning News he returned with a wealth of information and ideas, but won’t be implementing them overnight.
One issue he continues to deal with is staffing. He said several veteran officers are eligible for retirement in 2019.
As part of the solution, Chief Butler has met this week with union representatives to get their input into the manpower situation.
