The Middlesex Assistant Fire Chief killed last weekend was laid to rest Saturday.
A memorial service and funeral procession for Third Assistant Fire Chief Tom Hetherington drew hundreds of family members, friends, and firefighter brethren to Crosswinds Wesleyan Church in Canandaigua Saturday morning.
Hetherington was a former member and past chief of the Churchville Fire Department, Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance and Monroe Ambulance, and joined the Middlesex Hose Company four years ago when he and his wife moved to Canandaigua.
Hetherington also served as an investigator with the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
Hetherington was killed in a snowmobile accident last Friday in the town of Inlet.
