The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff reports the investigation of a personal injury motor vehicle collision in the Town of Ontario. Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 104 and Furnace Road for the report of a vehicle that was struck by a large truck in the intersection and one person was trapped in the vehicle.
Deputies determined that Nancy A. Penneitz, age 68, of Kenyon Rd. in Ontario, NY was northbound on Furnace Rd. attempting to cross State Route 104 and proceed northbound. Her vehicle was then struck in the intersection by a commercial Freightliner being operated by Kermis J. Cruz, age 59, of Saint Paul Blvd., Rochester, NY.
It was later determined by Deputies that Penneitz had attempted to pull out into State Route 104 while her traffic light was solid red. Penneitz was transported by ambulance to Rochester General Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. She was also ticketed for Failing to Stop at a Red Light and is scheduled to appear at a later date and time.
Assisting the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at the Scene was the Town of Ontario Fire Department and Town of Ontario Ambulance.
