A 21 year old Ithaca father has been arrested on felony assault charges following an investigation into the alleged assault of his three year old son.
Ithaca Police started their investigation October 4th and determined the child suffered significant injuries while in the custody of his dad, Joshua Barnes. The boy was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple cuts. Barnes denied involvement and then allegedly fled to Baltimore, Maryland. An arrest warrant was issued several weeks later and on November 20th, Barnes was arrested in Baltimore. On Monday, Ithaca Police brought Barnes back to the arrest and had him arraigned on the charges he faced, which also include endangering the welfare of a child.
Following his arraignment, Barnes was sent to Tompkins County Jail.
