Auburn Police say the person who made the bomb threat that closed the Cayuga County Mental Health Center on Wednesday afternoon is unlikely to face charges.
A tweet from the Cayuga County Office of Emergency Services at 4:03 pm on Wednesday afternoon stated the office would be closed until 8 on Friday morning, but no reason was given.
Auburn Police checked the North Street offices but no device was found. Cayuga County Administrator J. Justin Woods explained on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News why the offices remained closed on Thursday.
The suspect is a former patient who is currently being treated for mental health issues. According to investigators, the caller has made false bomb threats in the past.
