Emerson “John” Tohafjian’s double murder trial is set to begin on Friday.
Seneca County District Attorney Barry Porsch says Tohafjian hid in the bushes outside a Virginia Street apartment house in Waterloo and entered the home and shot his ex-girlfriend, Lori McConnell and her friend Chuck Andrus, last July. A third person, Karen Zdunko, was injured in the attack. Pretrial motions will be heard Friday morning and then jury selection will begin. Police located Tohafjian at a campground in Phelps and crisis negotiators talked to him for several hours before he was taken into custody.
Police have not recovered the shotgun used in the murders.
