Steven (Stevie) John Nussbaumer II of Penn Yan, New York passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday (November 18, 2018) at the age of 48.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Yates County Humane Society.
Steven was born on December 19, 1969 in Penn Yan, New York, the only child of Steven John and Terry Lee (Housel) Nussbaumer. Steven graduated from Penn Yan Academy class of 1988. He was always a strong and hardworking student. After school, he worked for Summerhays Boilermakers and then Nicholson and Hall Boilermakers. In 1996, he opened his own business, Steve’s Auto Salon & Detail Shop in Penn Yan, N.Y. He worked very hard and took a lot of pride in making vehicles look show room new. He was well known as the best auto detailer in the area. Stevie followed in his father’s footsteps and was an avid outdoorsman harvesting many trophy animals, but above all keeping conservation and the well-being of the animals and ecosystem in mind. He loved to be outdoors whether it was fishing on the lake or hunting in the woods. Regardless of the season or the weather, Stevie could be found spending quality time with his Dad enjoying the fresh air and nature. Stevie had a strong love for animals. He took time to build habitats for animals of all sizes and had many pets including dogs and cats. Stevie was also an expert in building and maintaining large aquariums with many beautiful fish which brought him joy and contentment. Stevie had a large heart like his mom and was very thoughtful. He opened his home to friends and was always willing to give whatever he could to anyone in need. Anyone who knew Stevie, knew he was laid back, easy going and always had a smile on his face.
Stevie is survived by his mother, Terry and father Steven Nussbaumer; maternal grandfather, Alvin Housel; several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Stevie was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Thelma Housel; paternal grandfather, John; and grandmother, Margaret Nussbaumer; and his aunt, Becky Nussbaumer.
