The Cayuga County Legislature on Monday night approved its $150 Million preliminary 2019 budget. The spending plan includes a 2.4% tax levy increase over the current budget.
Earlier in the day Republican legislature leader Mike Didio correctly predicted there would not be any changes made to the preliminary budget approved last week by the Ways and Means Committee.
The preliminary budget includes a .5% reduction in the $40.95 Million levy proposed by county administrator J. Justin Woods and a $138,000 reduction in the use of the county’s fund balance.
A public hearing on the tentative budget is scheduled for next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Cayuga County Office Building. The legislature can either vote to approve the budget next week or make further changes before the state-mandated December deadline.
