Thomas A. Caralla, age 78, died peacefully on Sunday (November 11, 2018) at The House of John in Clifton Springs, N.Y.
Friends may call on Saturday (November 17) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street, Phelps, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Phelps.
Thomas was born on January 23, 1940 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of the late Paul and Buna McLaughlin Caralla. Tom was very mechanically inclined, he could build or fix just about anything. He worked at Rando Machine Corp. in Macedon, N.Y. where he built world class textile machines. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but always found time to read his books. Tom was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and found it in the highest honor that he was called home on Veterans Day.
He is survived by his children Thomas A. Caralla Jr. of Newark, Edward W. Caralla of Newark, Scott D. (Sheila) Caralla of Palmyra, Joan Miller (Andrew Sheets) of Phelps; grandchildren Thomas Caralla III, Nichole Caralla, Nathan Caralla, Courtney Caralla, Jordan Miller and Shannon Miller; great-grandchildren Kaleb and Mya Caralla; sister, Barbara Featherly of Phelps; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Buna Caralla; father, Paul Caralla; brother-in-law, Ronald Featherly.
