Emma M. Barnes, 91, of 97 Stark St., died Thursday (November 8, 2018) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18) at First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo, 42 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday (Nov. 19) at the church. Rev. Golden, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.
Emma was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Boston, GA, the daughter of Levi and Clara Nixon Smith. She was a longtime resident of Waterloo, N.Y. She was employed for many years with Creative Choices Child Care in Seneca Falls.
She is survived by sons, Barry J. Barnes of Frankfort, Ky., Nathaniel Barnes, Jr. of Los Vegas, Nev., LeRoy (Gloria) Barnes of Wassaic, N.Y., Abbie Barnes of Auburn, N.Y., Larry Barnes of Rochester, N.Y., Paul (Christina) Barnes of Brewerton, N.Y., Robert Barnes of Waterloo, NY, and Charles Barnes of Auburn, N.Y.; daughters, Dorothy (Gary) Linzy of Lyons, N.Y., Rozena (Clayton) Clarke of Auburn, N.Y., Mary (Robert) Aggie of Syracuse, N.Y., Emma J. Barnes of Auburn, N.Y., Linda (William) Barr of Auburn, N.Y., Brenda Barnes of Rochester, N.Y., Caroline (John) M. Delate of Pittsford, N.Y., Cynthia (Duane) Logins of Newark, N.Y., and Patty Harling; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Emma was predeceased by daughter, Donna Barnes; and siblings, Rutha Mae Smith Williams, Leroy Smith, Willie Smith, Sherman Smith, Joe Smith, Irene Smith, Maggie Smith, Roscoe Smith, Flossie Smith Horne, Willie James Smith, George Smith and Mary Smith.
