This is a weekend to remember and pay tribute to veterans and members of the military currently serving this nation.
Celebrations on Saturday will mark the 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The city will hold a flag raising ceremony on the south lawn of city hall at 8:00 am, and there will be cake cutting ceremonies starting at noon at SK Post #1324 on State Street and at 1:00 pm at VFW Post# 1975 on East Genesee Street.
Sunday is Veterans Day, and this November 11th is also the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War 1. The City will hold the annual Veterans Day service beginning at 11:00 am at Veterans Memorial Park, with an after-ceremony at the VFW post starting at noon.
