24th District Congressman John Katko is headed back to Washington for a third term, but Democrat Dana Balter gave him a battle. Katko’s support in three of the four counties in the district gave him a 53 – 47 percent victory.
Balter narrowly won in Onondaga County, but voters in Cayuga, Wayne and Oswego counties gave Katko the double digit edge that was the difference in the closest of his three election victories.
The GOP lawmaker talked about his priorities for the new session of Congress when he stopped at the Auburn Diner on election day morning.
In his victory speech Katko praised Balter for being a tough opponent, and he pledged to continue reaching across the aisle to the Democrats who will control the House of Representatives.
